미국의 가수이자 배우 Selena Gomez(셀레나 고메즈)는 2002년 어린이 프로그램인 "Barney & Friends"에 출연하면서 데뷔하였고 이후 연기자로써 디즈니 시트콤 "Wizards of the Waverly Place", "한나 몬타나" 등에서 활동을 이어갔다.
Hollywood Records와 계약한 2009년 Selena Gomez & The Scene이라는 밴드를 결성해 [Kiss & Tell]을 발매했고, 3집까지 이어가면서 영향력 있는 밴드로 활동했다. 이 시기 팝스타 Justin Bieber와의 연인 관계가 밝혀지면서 최고의 셀럽으로 주목을 받기도 했다.
2013년에는 솔로 활동을 시작, 리드 싱글 'Come & Get It'으로 성숙하고 섹시한 이미지로 변신해 빌보드 Hot 6위에 올랐으며, 두 번째 싱글 'Slow Down' 역시 플래티넘 인증을 받았다. 이어서 정규 앨범 [Stars Dance]를 발매하였고, 첫 주 빌보드 앨범 차트 1위로 데뷔하면서 성공적인 기록을 세웠다. 싱글 'The Heart Wants What It Wants'로 흥행에 성공하며 커리어를 이어갔다.
