아젠다 (Agenda)-YURIKO

저의 네 번째 싱글 [YURIKO]라는 곡은, 반년 전 즈음에 스스로에 대한 자존감이 많이 떨어졌을 때 만든 곡이에요. 외모가 뛰어난 분들에게 질투나 열등감을 많이 느낀 시기였습니다.

 

‘나도 저런 사람들처럼 생기고 입을 수 있다면 얼마나 좋을까?’라는 생각으로 속이 새까맣게 타기도 했었습니다. 저는 저를 사랑하는 것처럼 행동했고, 그렇게 보이기를 바랐지만 내심 그렇지만은 않았습니다. 제가 특별히 눈에 띄지 않는 사람이라는 사실을 스스로 받아들이는 데에는 적잖은 고통이 뒤따르기도 했지요.

그러던 중에 유튜브에서 나카무라 유리코 씨의 음악을 듣게 되었어요. 유리코라면 일본에서 꽤나 있을 법한 이름이었지만, 당장의 제 이름보다 너무도 아름답게 느껴졌습니다. 또 그녀의 음악도 굉장했고요. 그래서 노래 제목이 그녀의 이름이 되었습니다.

한글로 표현하기에는 저의 마음이 너무 부끄러워서 가사도 영어로 썼습니다. 물론 이런 노래를 만들고 낸다고 해서 저의 열등감이 해소되거나 제가 지금보다 월등히 나은 사람이 되지는 않겠지요. 그러나 누구나(모두는 아니겠지만서도) 열등에 허우적대는 경험을 해본 적이 있을 것이라고 생각합니다. 각설하고, 이 곡이 누군가의 열등에 공감함으로써, 서로의 고민의 무게들이 가벼워지기를 바랍니다. 감사합니다.
