미셸 르그랑이 남긴 봄, 그리고 사랑에 대한 시성 어린 찬가! 이 명곡을 보컬리스트 김주환이 자신의 우상인 토니 베넷, 그리고 빌 에번스와 함께한 명 버전에 고스란히 헌정하는 느낌을 담아 가진 감성 그대로 노래한다.

 

유키의 피아노와 함께 내부로 수렴해 절제하되, 전달되는 감정의 폭은 더욱 크고 잔향이 오래 남도록 의도한 두 뮤지션의 어울림이 머지 않아 찾아올 봄을 소슬히 기다리게 만든다.

프랑스 영화 음악 거장 미셸 르그랑의 이 클래식을 혹자는 “희망과 사랑, 자연의 아름다움에 대한 시적 로맨티시즘의 걸작”이라고 했다. 가장 유명한 버전은 역시 토니 베넷과 빌 에반스의 것일 텐데 김주환과 유키 후타미는 저 거장 듀오의 솔풀(soulful)한 맛과 2분이 넘는 피아노 솔로를 첫 소절의 ‘식은 고독의 감정’으로 데려가기 위해 약간의 격정, 그 이면의 긴장을 함께 허락했다. 스산한 체념 속에 묻은 이 차분한 열기는 인생이란 계절의 풍요와 공허, 사랑의 상실감이 피아노/보컬 재즈 듀오 안에서 어떻게 발화하고 잦아들 수 있는지 열린 해답의 형식으로 들려주고 있다. 슬프도록 아름다운 노래와 연주다.
